First I thought I will write my own and then came across this and I think I will never be able to write one like this...!!
விடைகொடு எங்கள் நாடே கடல் வாசல் தெளிக்கும் வீடே பனைமரக்காடே பறவைகள்கூடே மறுமுறை ஒருமுறை பார்ப்போமா? உதட்டில் புன்னகை புதைத்தோம் உயிரை உடம்புக்குள் புதைத்தோம் வெறும் கூடுகள்மட்டும் ஊர்வலம் போகின்றோம்..!!
கந்தலானாலும் தாய்மடிபோல் ஒரு சுகம்வருமா? வருமா? சொர்கம் சேர்ந்தாலும் சொந்த ஊர்போல ஒரு சுதந்திரம் வருமா? வருமா? கண் திறந்த தேசம் அங்கே கண் மூடும் தேசம் எங்கே? பிரிவோம் நதிகளே பிழைத்தால் வருகிறோம் மீண்டும் தாயகம் அழைத்தால் வருகிறோம் கண்ணீர் திரையில் பிறந்த மண்ணை கடைசியாகப்பார்க்கின்றோம்....!!
கடல்நீர் பறவைகாள் இருந்தால் சந்திப்போம் வானமே மலைகளே வாழ்ந்தால் சந்திப்போம் தலையில் கொஞம் னெஞில் அதிகம் சுமைகள் சுமந்து போகின்றோம்...!!
Over all the scene can be depicted as again in my stupid language...!!
Oh, My beloved country, The country where the sea cleans up the house-front, let me depart. Oh, the Palm trees, the birds nests will we see you all again atleast once? Buried our smiles in our lips Buried our lives in our body the shells are just on the procession...!!
Even if it is torn and dirty will anything be eual to sleep on the lap of mother...? Even if it is heavens, will there be the freedom of your hometown? we opened our eyes here Where is the land where we will close? Mighty rivers Lets depart if we were alive lets meet if my country calls again.. we shall ccome. Through the tear screened eyes we are seeing the land where we were born and played and lived , for one last time...!!
Oh, the sea birds, the Sky, Mountains, if we were alive we shall meet again.
We have little load on our heads and a heavy load in our hearts.
Oh my land ... let us depart.. Tell me the parting words...!!
Note: Though I know that it is virtually impossible to convey what is there in the above poem in Tamil, I would say that it is my absolute arrogance to put it in my language...!! HAHAHA.. :)
